Two routes to school enrollment in Mallorca
Which route suits you depends mainly on the timing of your move.
Regular enrollment in spring
If your move is decided early, your children can take part in the regular enrollment process for the coming school year. For Primaria it usually takes place between April and May; for other ages and school levels, the periods may differ. Enrollment for public schools and Concertadas is done online, and for that you need a Certificado Digital. If you don’t have one yet, we help you with that too.
Arriving in summer or later?
Then the regular online process is usually already closed, and enrollment runs through the responsible education authority. We check and prepare your documents and organise the necessary appointment. On request, we also accompany you in person and translate on site.

Important: Residencia and empadronamiento
Please consider these two topics early when planning your school enrollment in Mallorca. Without a Residencia, enrollment can be more difficult, or the Residencia may have to be submitted promptly afterwards. The empadronamiento also plays an important role in the enrollment.

And after enrollment?
You have the school place, and suddenly there are book lists, supply lists, messages in Catalan and the first appointments. That is why, on request, we accompany you not only with school enrollment in Mallorca, but also at the start of school.

Frequently asked questions about school enrollment in Mallorca
When do I have to enroll my child in Mallorca?
The regular enrollment deadlines fall at different times depending on school level and age. For Primaria, the process usually takes place in spring. The exact dates are published anew every year.
What happens if we only arrive in Mallorca in summer?
Your child can still be enrolled. After the regular enrollment period, however, the process runs through the responsible education authority. We can accompany you from preparation to the personal appointment.
Do we need a Residencia and an empadronamiento?
You should consider both early. Without a Residencia, enrollment can be more difficult, or it may be requested promptly afterwards. The empadronamiento is also relevant for the enrollment process.
Can we choose a school?
In the regular process, you can state school preferences. However, we cannot guarantee a place at a specific preferred school. For later enrollments, the choice also depends on the school places still available.
My child doesn’t speak Catalan. Is that a problem?
Many children start in Mallorca without any Catalan. At public schools and Concertadas, Catalan is part of everyday school life. What language support looks like depends, among other things, on the school and the child’s age.
Do you also keep helping after enrollment?
Of course. If you would like support with supply lists, textbooks, letters from the school, translations or the first appointments, you can add our school-start support.
